Linux Migration

Well, looks like i'm making my final leap into the linux enviornment on a full time basis. for the
last year and a half, linux for me has only been on a part time basis, now it's full time. I'm
tweaking around with the linux kernel version 2.6.3m4 but i still can't compile it myself, so i do
the next best thing, run a distro which already uses it as default. So as we speed i'm downloading
mandrake 10.0 RC1 via bittorrent and hopefully i can _reformat_ -- my computer _AGAIN_ tomorrow, and
then see if i can do everything i want. My highest hopes are that totem will work perfectly, and i
won't have to worry to much about configuration of my system.
So in the mean
time, i'm running vmware with all my normal applications running in a virtual machine running on top
of my linux router, which is my old amd 1200mhz computer with 512mb of pc100 sdram. it seems to
handle the load pretty decent, it feels too muchlike the computers at the community college which
are severly under powered for what they are running, but then again, my vmware seems to use more cpu
than i would have previously thought.
Wish me luck on this whole venture into the
OSS world.
