Life : Sinusitis Sucks

Posted by Compubomb On Sep 27, 2008 @ 10:25 pm | Visited ( 74 )

Once again, I've been spited by the ole mighty of wicked black fairy dust--sarcasm. I've recently come down with a horribly nasty unpleasant sinus infection, the second this year thus far which also happened last March. Money is tight and I'm fortunate to have had some spare kflex antibiotics. Only have halve the dosage-time but I've used it for just this event on numerous occasions. Roughly every year or every 6 months basically twice a year I get these dreadful infections. They suck. Essentially at least with the flue, you get it, and you know within 2 weeks if you are healthy it will go away, Sinusitis on the other hand is one of those things which lingers on and on and on until you get either a combination of steroids plus antibiotics or just antibiotics. My head hurts, my cheeks hurt, my bones ache and I have a temperature north of 100F less than 102F. The worst part about all of this is I have my Course work to work on, and something in my world always comes up to try to stab me in the back when I'm just moving up the latter so to speak.

Life : I Hate Drugs

So, now that I'm over this kidney stone, after having taken some order of magnitude i think 10+ or so pills of vicodin in a 50 hour period i seem to have developed some kind of acetaminophen tolerance. Herein lies the problem, I normally take Tylenol Arthritis for my ankle during the day to help alleviate pain in my ankle and use Ibuprofen to work down the swelling as an anti-inflammatory. Now Tylenol is no longer working, and i fear it's because the dosage of the vicodin from the acetaminophen. I normally take only 1 to 2 doses per day, totaling like 700mg of acetaminophen, and roughly the same of ibuprofen. So.. Who knows, maybe I'm just in a bit more pain than normal. Drug abuse is one of those things i don't take lightly which is something i avoid as much as humanly possible. I'd rather push through it then numb it.

Life : Kidney Stones are fun!

So, earlier today, I passed a kidney stone the size of a small pebble. You wouldn't imagine something so small would wreak havoc on your kidney but your kidney is designed to excrete fluids, not solids. The process took me a whopping 50 or so hours during which I was mostly medicated on 5mg/500mg Vicodin. And no, I only took 1 at a time, totaling 10 pills during 50 hours, so roughly 1 pill every 5 hours or so. Vicodin sure does have a way of making you constipated, that is definately for sure. Anyways, that was fun, now I'm hopping the next time it happens is when I'm in a grave. At least then, I probably won't feel it.

School should be starting. This time around will be the first time I've ever been driving to my classes. My hopes are high for this coming semester. I have some reservations as to how well I will do considering my handicap, that being that I haven't taken calculus for almost a year now. I passed calc 1 and 2 both with a B but they say if you don't use it you lose it. I should be taking physics 201 with calculus once again hopefully without the animosity of the other students and calculus 3 with a competent professor who can hopefully get the topic across to me. I plan to try my best this time around; I just hope I don't fall into my old routine of getting depressed or just being lazy. Programming these days has been put on the back burner this semester. My hopes are to get through what I have on my current plate. I don't know if I'd ever have been able to make it through a university level education at this level considering how hard these topics are or if I had the family problems I do today. At this point, my mom is now severely diabetic, she has lost her sight completely and is likely to lose her other foot above the ankle, so that means she will have no feet and be wheel chair bound. When your mother is schizophrenic it can ruin a lot of your life experiences considering how much pressure it puts on you emotionally and those around you. Anyways, she is now in the hospital and probably won't ever be coming back home considering her physical and emotional ailments.

Anyways, life is too long to think about what you cannot control and start focusing on what you can.

Life : Obstacles of Progress

So, school has started, I believe it was on the 14th of august. I originally registered for Calculus 3, Physics 1, and Communications 100 (Public Speaking). Since then I've dropped my Calculus 3 course because my professor's teaching methodology didn't correspond to my ability to comprehend the complicated subject. Multivariable Calculus should be taken in stride with plenty of examples, which he didn't seem to agree on. Anyways, apart from dropping Calc 3 I'm still taking physics with a professor who is simply amazing in his ability to get you to think; unfortunately I'm still struggling to get used to how to solve written word problems, but it will come in time. I'm in public speaking and that class seems to be a joke as far as presentation goes. Makes me kind of wonder what the point is, other than being forced to give speeches.

On a secondary note, I've started learning how to drive. Got my driving permit and been taking it to the road. Hopefully I'll eventually get the hang of it with great enthusiasm. My dad was telling me that if when I get better at driving he's going to get me a Honda Civic which I'm totally floored by the idea. Anyways, life seems to be going okay at the moment, I guess the idea is to take life in stride and to live it one day at a time, and most of all to not take anything for granted as it could be taken away from you in an instant--I'm talking primarily of my dad's health, one day he's great, the next day he's feeling horrible.

Life : Attempt at Doing Something.

Wow, it's been a while since I actually posted anything on this website I call my blog. I've been taking unusual numbers of pictures of my cats with my dad's or rather might I say my E-500 Olympus digital camera. The other day I went outside to take pictures of the 4th of July fireworks but I failed miserably due to my stupidity of not bringing a tripod to keep the camera steady when I selected low light conditions to allow for more photo exposure. Anyways, apart from taking pictures as a new found hobby of mine--not too much--I've enrolled into a weight training course which is rather worthless generally speaking, but also generally speaking could be rather useful. I've started first off to gain a bit more cardio vascular ability such as I can now stay on the elliptical machine for more than 5 minutes; I'm now at 10 minutes to be precise. Also, I found out I'm rather weak when it comes to bench pressing, so I'm gradually working my way up from 50 pounds now up to 60 pounds after almost 3.5 weeks--rather pathetic if you ask me; then again my diet is not fairing out to well. If only I could stop eating tasty food, then I'd be able to eat healthy; only thing is tasty food is what strives to gain access to my belly--muhahaha.

Pondering when I will get a car, I'm 22 and still without a car, especially in California. In California without a car, you are essentially a bum; I don't wanna be a bum--cries. And this next semester I should hopefully be taking calculus 3 (advanced multi-variable calculus), physics 1, and maybe Java programming, but online. My theory is that I will probably not take the java course since taking two math classes of this caliber will most likely cause moments of blacking out due to brain overload. But I will strive to meet the challenge as I have essentially retaken all of my high school courses in college. Thank you so much United States for making my education so fruitful--bout of sarcasm--but really, high school for me was a waste of my time, tax payers time and generally it was a horrible experiment, damn you bastard Prussians. (no longer Prussia but is now called Germany)

Life : Relieved

Posted by Compubomb On May 30, 2006 @ 11:42 pm | Visited ( 181 )

It's been a while since my last post so what has actually happened since then is somewhat to me of a miracle. I passed my Calculus 2 course with a 87.3% B so I'm somewhat ecstatic. I sort of become a bit of a slacker after my last day last Wednesday--just realized that I always used to spell Wednesday as wensday--chuckles. But anyways had my sights set on learning a few new programming languages and possibly even trying to get into shape--fitness wise--but knowing how I procrastinate one would wonder if that will actually occur. So next semester I have to take: Calculus 3, Physics 1, Java (was hopping to take it this last semester but the class was canceled). So life seems a bit better, we got our Central Air Conditioner Unit replaced and a new coil installed to help with cooling; only new problem is the house is always freezing. Hoping my dad gets another mortgage deal so we can get another car which will make getting a license all the more imperative.

Life : Medication and It's Adverse Side Effects.

Posted by Compubomb On Apr 17, 2006 @ 3:40 am | Visited ( 203 )

I wrote this on a site talking about xenical:

I took approximately 2 Xenical pills, 120mm. I am lactose intolerant. I avoid milk/dairy products like the plague. I now also avoid products with eggs in them as well due to recent findings that i have bowel problems with them. Anyways, over the past 24 to 30 hours, I've had nothing but gas, "anal-seepage"(when you think your going to pass gas, you actually leak into your clothing). It also takes away your mobility to get things done and worrying about making an accident on yourself. Also making sure that you have proper access to a wash cloth or baby wipe/wet one to rinse your underside.

My purpose in posting this is to discourage those taking Xenical as it is not in my opinion appropriate for losing weight. This pill will only give you a quick fix for a major life changing problem. If you have the money at your disposal and a health club near by, your best bet is to gain some more muscle. Then much of your weight will drop--quantity may vary.

This pill is probably the most horrific experience I've ever encountered as far as side effects go. Oily orange discharge is not a pretty sight. Nor does the fact that when you eat, you almost think your food smalls like what is coming out of your anus.
