Life : Sinusitis Sucks

Posted by Compubomb On Sep 27, 2008 @ 10:25 pm | Visited ( 111 )

Once again, I've been spited by the ole mighty of wicked black fairy dust--sarcasm. I've recently come down with a horribly nasty unpleasant sinus infection, the second this year thus far which also happened last March. Money is tight and I'm fortunate to have had some spare kflex antibiotics. Only have halve the dosage-time but I've used it for just this event on numerous occasions. Roughly every year or every 6 months basically twice a year I get these dreadful infections. They suck. Essentially at least with the flue, you get it, and you know within 2 weeks if you are healthy it will go away, Sinusitis on the other hand is one of those things which lingers on and on and on until you get either a combination of steroids plus antibiotics or just antibiotics. My head hurts, my cheeks hurt, my bones ache and I have a temperature north of 100F less than 102F. The worst part about all of this is I have my Course work to work on, and something in my world always comes up to try to stab me in the back when I'm just moving up the latter so to speak.

Life : I Hate Drugs

Posted by Compubomb On Aug 06, 2008 @ 6:32 pm | Visited ( 157 )

So, now that I'm over this kidney stone, after having taken some order of magnitude i think 10+ or so pills of vicodin in a 50 hour period i seem to have developed some kind of acetaminophen tolerance. Herein lies the problem, I normally take Tylenol Arthritis for my ankle during the day to help alleviate pain in my ankle and use Ibuprofen to work down the swelling as an anti-inflammatory. Now Tylenol is no longer working, and i fear it's because the dosage of the vicodin from the acetaminophen. I normally take only 1 to 2 doses per day, totaling like 700mg of acetaminophen, and roughly the same of ibuprofen. So.. Who knows, maybe I'm just in a bit more pain than normal. Drug abuse is one of those things i don't take lightly which is something i avoid as much as humanly possible. I'd rather push through it then numb it.

Life : Kidney Stones are fun!

Posted by Compubomb On Aug 04, 2008 @ 2:38 am | Visited ( 126 )

So, earlier today, I passed a kidney stone the size of a small pebble. You wouldn't imagine something so small would wreak havoc on your kidney but your kidney is designed to excrete fluids, not solids. The process took me a whopping 50 or so hours during which I was mostly medicated on 5mg/500mg Vicodin. And no, I only took 1 at a time, totaling 10 pills during 50 hours, so roughly 1 pill every 5 hours or so. Vicodin sure does have a way of making you constipated, that is definately for sure. Anyways, that was fun, now I'm hopping the next time it happens is when I'm in a grave. At least then, I probably won't feel it.

Site Updates : REST & Jquery

Posted by Compubomb On Jul 19, 2008 @ 7:43 am | Visited ( 168 )

So, I've implemented REST urls & implemented a Jquery menu for Links, Category, and Archive. All the urls now look like so url.com/controller/arg1/val1/arg2/val2 It's pretty nifty.

Correction: I guess i didn't actually implement REST, i only made my urls friendly. Either way, i find it nifty.

Personal : After School & Summer

So, I've finished school for the semester, now already out of class for almost 2 weeks and getting bored. I finished the semester with 3 A's and 1 B: Differential Equations 4th Semester Calculus [A], Physics 202 Electricity & Magnetism [B], Java2 [A], Data Structures & Algorithms [A]. I felt pretty good about the semester. I did however feel as though I learned nothing though in my software courses as my Math & Physics class I believed were quite demanding on my brain. I guess when you have to deal with complicated subjects your brain puts to the side other complicated subjects and you start to realize you cannot enjoy them all with the same enthusiasm. Now all I have to do is take Linear Algebra to transfer to 4 year university.

I've decided that I will try to attempt to learn the programing language Python, and while I'm at it, I installed Ubuntu 8.04 64bit as to keep me more focused on my objectives. When I run windows, I don't know, it keeps me from programing as much as I'd like to. It's as if windows XP is distracting me so much that I don't want to do anything. Who knows, maybe the whole OS stifles innovation in how much it keeps you from doing things. So now I'm running Ubuntu and I've figured out how to configure most of the things I want.

As of late, I've been playing around with Komodo Edit 4.2--I couldn't find a 64bit 4.3 version--and I have to say that I'm quite happy with it. I love how it has amazing auto-complete functionality for not only php and python, but also for Javascript. It is rather light-weight as compared to say Aptana, which runs on top of Eclipse and we all know that Eclipse is a beast compared to the gecko engine that Komodo runs on.

Politics : Amen to that!

Posted by Compubomb On Apr 07, 2008 @ 1:23 am | Visited ( 238 )

This article over at the site The National Expositor. I just can't get enough of his last paragraph which states

There is no one in the Bush administration with enough integrity to resign. It is a government devoid of truth, morality, decency and honor. The Bush administration is a blight upon America and upon the world.

I Say Amen Brother! I consider myself a patriot, but these people are fascists. Mussolini the dictator of Italy during WWII supposedly from somewhere i read online tried to rename fascism to Corporatism. If you have kept up with your current events, you will notice one key event during the bush administration, that being lobbyists get what they want. Lobbyists work for corporations, they have the deepest of pockets, and their pockets circumvent the obligations of the Democratic Republic to serve their constituency--that is the people of this great nation.

One of the primary reasons this country had a revolutionary war was because the British Colonies experienced a disbanding of their own governing institution and the saying resignates even today, "Taxation without representation" and in our current government status, it is rampant. The most frightening thing about all of this is they no longer conspire behind closed doors, but you hear about it in the newspaper the next day they publish how the captured government entities have sided with corporate interests over civilian interests.

Politics : Disappointment

Posted by Compubomb On Jan 09, 2008 @ 9:52 am | Visited ( 219 )

I'm extremely interested in politics lately. My new found hero is Ron Paul. Unfortunately the people in New Hampshire the state which the saying goes, "Live Free or Die" seems to not understand that the current running Republicans and Democrats other than Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich are all Warmongering Lunatics. Not to mention that they think we can sustain a war and add public funded health care system at the same time. I'm praying--and i'm not a religious person--that our country in the other 48 states have some reason and will eventually give Ron Paul the support he needs to get elected.
