I figured since I run my own blog (and it seems like they did some work on their editor) I would give Flock another try. They seem to have incorporated more services and also their website seems to be redone. I am not sure exactly what has changed with the release of 2.0 but I am going to check it out.

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year! Welcome to 2009. My resolution this year is going to be to quit smoking. I tried once not long ago using Chantix and that did not work out too well. I am going to give the patch a chance this year.

While I was looking into the TomTom POI’s I started to wonder about incorporating Google Maps into a Cocoa Application that could handle creating custom POI sets for my device. Well it led me on a small detour but I figured out how to incorporate Google Maps into a Cocoa Application and explain how in my article titled Google Maps in a Cocoa Application. While I cannot say that I am an expert on Cocoa Development I have been learning a lot. With that said you may find issues with my code, I don’t doubt that. I just figured since I figured out how to do it I would share with everyone.

While I have seen that site before it is designed and programmed much nicer and even made me laugh again.
If you look under the Navigation section on the right side you will see some Photos that I have added to the gallery. This is a new gallery I am testing out so it might not be permanent or it may require some changes to make it fit in with the site 100%. Let me know what you think!
I have upgraded to Wordpress 2.7 if you see any issues please let me know. There have been a lot of changes to the admin area and I have to say at first glance it is well worth the upgrade.
Over the last month I have been a bit intriqued by the Tom Tom Go 930 that I bought. I am a technical kinda guy so ofcourse I would have to look into how to add points of interestes to the device. Now I know that you can easilly add a POI using the device but you have to do so one by one.
I subscribed to a website that will allow me to download CSV files for different retail outlets, food chains, etc that all contain the latitude and longitude for the locations. I have a list of all Wal-Mart locations in the USA and even though I could download the Wal-Mart POI for the United States through TomTom HOME, what fun is that? I wanted to figure out how to create my own POI files so that I could create a set and share them with the TomTom community.
Today I figured out how to create them however I wrote the code in PHP so it’s not that useful outside of the web world. However now that I know how to create them you can be sure I will be looking into writing an application for Mac OS X that will make life easier for me. Maybe one day I will share the application with the world (so long as it meets my release expectations). It will be a while as I am still learning Cocoa and do not have much free time outside of work and Family Time.

Once I make things easier for me I will probably add a nice TomTom page to my site where you will be able to download all of the POI’s that I create. You will also be able to find my POI’s in the TomTom Home software as I will be sharing them with the community there.
One thing that I can say is that TomTom needs to do some work on their documentation or their installation wizard. They state that you can create a CSV file in the format of Longitude,Latitude,Description and then use their wizard to share your POI. This is incorrect because you actually have to use the proper format for OV2 files which is not easy to find.

Today while I was walking home from school with my little man we noticed the street blocked by a cop car. Being a curious 5 year old he wanted to go look. I saw only one car and thought it was probably an accident so why not let him go see what was going on. We hit the end of the street where it was blocked off and an officer told us if we are walking down that way to stay on that side of the street.
Looking down the street I could tell something was going on, I counted 16 Lynn Police cars on top of a few undercover cars. All of them had lights on so this was “cool” to Dylan. He saw one guy in handcuffs being put into the car and he said “ut oh, he was bad”.
I have been watching the papers all day to see what happened and they just posted something not long ago. It seems 3 armed men stormed a womans house. Luckilly she escaped and ran to a neighbors house to call police. This home invasion is just another reason why we need to get out of the city. We did not see it but the paper says that all 3 men were arrested at gun point.
I figured it had something to do with a gunshot that my girlfriend heard come from that area last night, I guess it didn’t though. I don’t see anything about that in the paper.

Adobe has been researching how to modify objects in videos. This is something that you could do before with some Adobe products however it is very difficult and tedious to accomplish. This new technique that they came up with makes it very easy. If you watch the video below you will see what I mean. This is truly some great stuff.
